On November 9, take a magic carpet ride from the Wild West to Arabia!
Imagine events in the life of Billy the Kid, the Wild West's most famous
outlaw, from life on the open prairie to Billy's capture and death, as
told musically in Copland's orchestral suite. Vanguard Grand Chorus
directed by G. Kevin Dewey joins the orchestra to perform music by
Dearborn native son, Steven Errante. Experience the dreamy, sultry
Arabian nights of Rimsky-Korsakov's Sheherazade, who saves her life by
telling tales for a thousand and one nights. Imbued with exotic Near
Eastern moods and the subtle flavor of Russian folk music, the
instrumental colors are vivid and spectacular, the tone qualities lush
and ravishing, and the melodies are full and sensual.
