Concert of Colors Neighborhood Programs, in partnership with the Arab American National Museum, presents “Still We Sing,” featuring the Michigan premiere of Omar Offendum’s Little Syria.
Set in New York City’s historic Little Syria neighborhood (1880–1940), this unique performance blends hip-hop, live Arabic instrumentation, and traditional Levantine storytelling. Award-winning rapper and poet Omar Offendum joins Palestinian oud virtuoso Ronnie Malley and music producer Thanks Joey to explore the Arab American experience and themes of immigration, identity, and belonging.
The evening also features internationally acclaimed Syrian soprano Lubana Al-Quntar and Detroit-based interdisciplinary sound and visual artist Layan Srour.
Originally developed through a 2018 residency at the University of Michigan, Little Syria returns to Michigan for the first time as a fully staged production.
The Arab American National Museum, located in Dearborn, celebrates and preserves Arab American history, arts, and culture. In partnership with Concert of Colors Neighborhood Programs, the museum helps bring communities together through free cultural performances that celebrate diversity, shared heritage, and the power of the arts. The program is supported by the Gilbert Family Foundation, the Kresge Foundation, and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, in partnership with Detroit PBS and WDET 101.9 FM.
